Accidents happen, it is a simple fact of life. Some accidents are tiny so they go under the radar and no one ever notices them, but others are so big they become the news. If your day is not going in the way you expected, take a look at these unfortunate situations when someone's day is completely derailed. No matter humans, a force of nature, or the hand of God, these fails cost someone a fortune to clean up.
Do You Even Try To Hide This?
Sometimes life turns your world upside down, and this is quite an impressive feat! The amount of things needed to go wrong for this to happen. Bad driver? check. Steep hill? check. Bad luck? double-check.
The fact that these guys stand tall and smiling in front of their upside-down mess, says a lot. "Yeah. We did it. It happened. There is nothing we can do about it but take a picture to show our kids".
Bye Bye Birdie
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It's both, a bird within a plane! That must be one powerful bird to take down a plane designed to withstand a nuclear attack. The lesson of this story? Don't mess with birds.
On a serious note, you would think the Navy would have thought ahead this could happen, right? It's quite common for a bird to get caught in an engine.
Elsa's New Office
This is a cool one. A home office in Norway was left to stand the cold weather, after a window was accidentally left open during the night, turning the once gray office into a white winter wonderland.
We guess the next time the unlucky man or woman who wanted a bit of fresh air in their small office, they will think twice before opening the window again during wintertime.
What Goes Up, Must Come Down
This terrifying disaster happened at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas after an event ended. The wall of monitors came crashing down after an employee failed to perform safety checks.
The wall was valued at a whopping $300 thousand, while the clean-up and repair totaled an even more whopping $700 thousand. Rest in Pieces, wall of monitors, thank you for service and entertainment.
Never Press The Red Button
How does this even happen, you ask? Pressing buttons you shouldn't press. When we were younger, we all wanted to press all of the buttons in the elevator, we guess some people never grew out of that stage.
Fun fact: An F-16 aircraft costs a modest 64 Million dollars. That's right, that jet in the image is worth $64 Million, all burned up into a crisp. Never to be used again.
Fancy Car Cemetery
Even if you're not into cars, this one is painful to watch. Millions of dollars burned away, when all that was needed to avoid it was simply installing a sprinkler system.
Yikes. That fire took with her all the cars and melted each one of them down. We hope whoever the cars belonged to, that person got insurance to cover this damage.
When The Wind Is Angry At You
Although the artistic appeal, this isn't an art installation. In Iowa, USA, it's common for wind to pick up to an 80+ MPH, denting and twisting these silos to their current shape.
Maybe next time they should build their silos underground? Where it's safe from constant winds that absolutely can destroy and tear them apart. Imagine having to go through this more than once in a lifetime.
Those Darn Kids
Kids tend to break things, and this is no exception. Only an hour has passed since the opening of this exhibition, and a kid came by and accidentally destroyed this adorable sculpture.
It only seems fair as a form of punishment to ask the kid to build the sculpture back up along with their parents. When life gives you lemons, make a lemon-shaped lego statue.
A Bridge To Stupidity
An entire crew went ahead and built this bridge in the wrong place. This isn't just one man's failure, but a group of individuals. Everyone failed to see their mistake. How could they have missed it?
"Why would anyone want to build a bridge over the river? it doesn't make sense", said everyone on that crew. It's mind-boggling that the entire time, no one thought they were making a mistake.
Pinball: Boulder Edition
The state of Tyrol, Austria, became a real-life pinball machine when a boulder detached from its resting place, rolled down the hill, and caused havoc on this poor house it landed on.
Tyrol's tourist economy is booming, with people arriving from all over the world, for the chance to play the Pinball: Boulder Edition. The highest score belongs to a 14-year-old local teen.
A Ship Load Of Problems
This wild ride happened to the MV Golden Ray in Georgia, when the ship capsized due to an uneven cargo load. The MV Golden Ray was carrying 4200 cars when it capsized, none survived.
Oh Damn, Oh Damn, Oh Damn! It needed a three "Oh Damn" moment. The ship was declared a total loss, and to this day, only half of the ship has been disassembled, with work continuing on the other half in the coming months.
Why Reading Signs Is Fundamental
This street sweeper's driver decided to cut corners and in doing so, destroyed the bridge's wooden panels. If you don't speak Dutch, allow us to point to the sign on the right, "Bridge not made for motor vehicles".
On the bright side, the street sweeper really can do its job. It takes a lot of power to cause this type of damage, so this little town's streets must be impeccable!
The Real Snakes Of America
This fail is something you can solely blame the U.S. Government for its lack of an adequate social healthcare plan. As seen in the hospital forms, the poor person who received treatment for a rattlesnake bite must pay a hefty amount.
This is not only painful but infuriating! look at the due date to pay the hospital fees, merely two weeks after the man left the hospital. How does one come up with 150K in two weeks!?
Those Darn Children Again
Another child-related incident. Another child, during another game of chase, has knocked over a glass sculpture of the Disney castle worth 50,000 pounds. Talk about getting on Mickey's bad side.
We guess this wasn't the happiest place on Earth for the child's parents. Maybe we should ban the game "chase", for obvious reasons? Accidents happen, but we can also prevent them from happening.
Like A Ship Out Of Water
This old disaster happened in the previous century when a ship named the SS Princess May, hit shallow waters and became stranded on the seabed's surface. As you can see, the ship was left completely out of the water.
To save the ship and repair the damage done to the hull, It took 3.2 Million dollars and a ship savior named Capt. W.H. Logan, who was known for rescuing ships from all sorts of trouble. The SS Princess May was his 32nd rescued ship.
A Portal To Hell
This hot mess happened after a pipeline burst in the Gulf of Mexico, setting the ocean itself on fire. Now, we know humans have evolved a lot since the dawn of man, but setting literal water on fire? that's the future.
It looks like a gate opened up straight to the depths of hell, just waiting for us to pass through. Impressive, but no thank you! We prefer to continue swimming around like fish and not burning up like demons.
A Bug In The Windshield
It might look like an image from a video game, but this became a reality in Kowloon City to the helicopter pilot and his 8-year-old son, who managed to exit the crash virtually unscathed.
We bet it took a lot more than using the windshield wipes to remove this pesky bug. Luckily the bus was in park mode and empty of passengers, but the damage will always be remembered.
It's A Car Thing
It is always sad to see a destroyed car on the side of the road. It is heartbreaking when it's a relic like this one, considering the amount of time, money, and energy that were placed into this car.
If we try to find the bright side in this situation, this crash is an opportunity for the owner to fix her up and rebuild their car. These types of people love repairing their cars, right?
The Final Resting Place
Okay, it's probably not the final resting place for this gigantic oil platform, but it does look like the platform has traveled to the cemetery on the shore, on purpose.
Tugboats were pulling on the oil platform when a massive storm forced the crew members to release the ropes, for their safety, resulting in the platform's visit to the graveyard.
I'll Have A Sidecar
It is a fact that finding parking anywhere these days is damn hard, but this is a bit extreme. In an unfortunate twist of fate, this car has found itself a home in a canal.
There will be stories about this magical car for sure. If you keep your eyes open to wonders, you might spot the sideways car one day, as it drives on another wall and into the distance, leaving behind a sideways trail.
Paint Prep Station
Look, we're no car doctors, but we're pretty sure this isn't how you paint a car. This disaster will get someone fired, because hey... you don't need to take a car apart to paint it.
Did someone think ramming the car into the paint prep dock was a good idea for some reason? Because it isn't. Damn, this car is in pieces, like a toy you give to a child.
Falling Off The Edge
This one is deliberate, but jets do fall off carriers. The crowd on the top left corner of the image looks on at the intentional drop, as a lesson on what to do, in case it happens in real life.
If this would have happened, we believe the image would have had a lot more people scrambling around the carrier, trying to save the jet from falling into the waters.
Grab Your Glasses!
A disaster we will gladly help out. A wine factory in Spain lost 50,000 liters of wine in a freak accident. If we were nearby, you can bet we would grab our glasses and help them clean up this mess.
We all love a siesta! A glass of wine and relaxing on a beach or a balcony looking out at the city. Then drink another glass of wine, and another and another.
The Batmobile
This Lamborghini has met its match in the form of a Renault Scenic. Not even the batmobile design could have saved this car from its demise. Let's hope Batman got himself insurance beforehand, not that he would need it.
It seems The Joker was the driver behind the wheel of the other vehicle and the culprit behind the crash. "It's a sensible car. Worth every penny" Said The Joker in a statement.
BullS***
This bull is angry! During a Pamplona event, this intense-looking bull decided he had enough and headed straight for another beast roaming around the street, a family car, almost tipping it over.
The family inside the car will have one hell of a story to tell their friends when they travel back home, on how they survived the day they met the full force of a raging bull.
The Fire Deprtmant Is Swapmed
These brave men have fought fires, they have rescued kittens from trees, but nothing could have prepared them for...water, lots and lots of water. Dragging them down the river into an unknown destination.
On a serious note, we honor and cherish every firefighter there is. These guys' unfortunate luck had us laughing, so a big old thank you to our heroes. May you never have to go down the river again.
A Row Of Sitting Ducks
Wow! Twelve brand new Chevrolets got the special treatment by one person's misfortune. The unlucky driver mounted up from the curve and somehow gained enough height to drive all over these cars' hoods.
Either the insurance company covered the damage or someone went home with twelve new wrecked cars. "Hey honey, You know you're always talking about getting a new car? You better sit down for this."
Jenga Time!
This construction site hit one big obstacle when the wet concrete floor collapsed into itself, creating this enormous hole right at the center of the site. How do they even start cleaning this up?
When damage like this happens, the only thing left to do is blow everything up and start building again. It's why foundations are so crucial, they are the basis for everything (get it? you got it).
The Little Engine That Could
Cleaning up messes like these is hard enough, so cleaning this train wreck a hundred years ago, that's dabbling with magic right there. Also, just how? How did this engine get to where it is?
It looks incredible, don't get us wrong, but how did this happen? What turned this engine into a killing machine able to break through brick walls? So many questions are left unanswered.
Boat Ride
Okay, this fail comes from Ohio. The boat was left behind, on its own, in the middle of a busy highway, giving other drivers a glimpse into someone else's bad luck. Next time, strap the boat tighter.
On an unrelated subject, have any of you noticed in one image we see a boat, a car, and a plane? We thought it would be cool to point out that fact. What are the chances?
Not Mobile Anymore
When snow falls in certain places, it falls hard. The snow's weight on top of the gas stations' roof proved to be too much to handle, causing the entire structure to collapse.
What was once a Mobil gas station has officially become not so mobile. Drivers can now go to the other Mobil gas station just down the street. They're like Starbucks, they have them everywhere!
Stings To Watch
Honestly? This accident might be a sad one, but fixable. This Corvette Stringray, in the right hands, can be put back together. Following its nightmare ordeal with a spontaneous driver, who decided to do a U-turn, and hit the car instead.
It is fixable. Cars like these, you don't give up on just as they don't give up on you. They are a part of the family, and this one has been with the owner since his children were babies.
Where Can I Park?
Car theft is a real problem, but parking in your living room? Not ideal. This unfortunate driver thought he could park quietly, only to be sorely mistaken as he drove through the building.
Hey, sometimes buildings appear out of thin air. It happens to all of us, and the only thing left to do is keep on driving, no matter the wall ahead of you. Or is it the other way around?
Down To The Wire
Who needs wires anyway? It's quite a disaster. One day your internet connection disappears, rendering you to live a simpler life. Without electronics, you go back to nature. You start over.
By day 30, you have reached a new level of enlightenment. Then they fix the problem, and you get your internet back, only to lose everything you've learned in the past few weeks.
Artistic Vision
There is no one to blame here but the gallery. They left art supplies next to a painting and opened the gallery for visitors, and a couple thought it was an invitation to express themselves. It makes a lot of sense if art supplies laying around, then visitors should use them.
We're just saying, if something costs half a million dollars, they should have known better than leaving art supplies by the painting. It's common to participate these days in art installations.
Boat Over Truck
In case you're having a hard time understanding what happened in this image, allow us to explain. The truck used to be in the front. The boat used to be at the back. A red light changed everything, and that boat hurdled above the truck.
It's hard enough to lose your truck, but to lose your boat, too? That's a difficult situation to handle. The moral of the story? Just drive carefully and make sure you're boat is tied correctly to the back of your car.
A Pile Up
A mess worthy of studying in schools. The fact that it kept on piling up, causing enormous damages to yet another gas station, is impressive. We can't help but wonder, was this an act of aggression?
Whichever way you decide to see this, try to view it as a lesson. Always make sure the top of your van isn't dragging a building's roof along with it. Maybe it's the gas station's fault? They are pretty easy to destroy.
The Road Less Traveled
This scary mess is due to some bad decisions and a lack of understanding of what is necessary to build a road. A result of taking the cheaper route (We do love a pun).
That's an expensive mistake, and to think someone needs to rebuild this again. We're hoping whoever is responsible, will do better to create a safe road to cross. We hope nobody got hurt!
Was It Even Attached?
Another story of bad decisions and zero understanding of how construction works. The outer wall here wasn't held by much, maybe superglue, and as a result, it came crashing down. Now the inner wall, that's a different story.
On the bright side, the inner wall looks fabulous! They should have never tried to cover it up! The exposed brick facade is chic and back in style. It's terrifying how easy it is to put an ugly cover on such a beautiful building.
Trees Can Have a Temper Too
Yikes! The power of mother nature strikes again. This car had no chance of surviving the tree's fall. It resulted in a near-perfect dent in the shape of the tree trunk, as well as a totaled car.
We wonder how this happened. Did someone chop the tree and made some miscalculations? Was there a storm? Did the car upset the tree? So many questions left unanswered.
Toilets Are Good To Break Falls
This might be less expensive to repair than the rest of the disasters listed above, though it's still not exactly a cheap fix. However, a naked person slipped in the shower and had a toilet to break their fall. Our prayers and thoughts go out to this individual.
It's one thing to slip in the shower, it happens to all of us at least once in our lifetime. It's another thing entirely to be the reason why your toilet is in pieces.
A Minor Scratch
Firstly, we hope whoever drove this car is okay. Secondly, this looks like a murder scene. Driving a car like this takes skills. It takes time to learn those skills. Why put yourself at risk?
Yes, it's a car like no other. So maybe, just maybe, a few lessons on how to drive these things can be helpful? If someone went out and paid for this, it wouldn't be such a terrible thing to pay for lessons as well.
That's Not How You're Supposed To Do It, Train
The coal train stood no chance as it derailed, and folded like an accordion. The culprit seems to be a landslide falling over the train tracks, which the engine driver probably failed to notice.
Somehow the craziest part of this wreck is the proximity of the house to the disaster. It's so close! Can we please have the same guardians angels those people have?
Who Wants Burnt Eggs?
It happened over breakfast. Someone was trying to make breakfast and ended blowing up the RV. It's not unheard of. The irreparable damage to the shield and interior tells us this one probably made someone very upset
Maybe the breakfast was worth losing the RV? If the Eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crisp, and the sausages were just right, We could see how it was worth it. Now we're hungry. Where's our breakfast?.
Clean Up On Aisle Ten
This is a sad one to look at. Very sad. We feel bad for the employee who had the task of cleaning this up. They probably quit. We would resign on the spot. How do you even approach this?
It's hard enough to remove paint from your hands after a paint job. If someone turned this into a reality show, we would sit down and watch all its episodes.
Crash Landing
One word comes to our mind seeing this image- lucky. Look how close it is to that home! someone's guardian angel was busy that day.
That engine part could make a beautiful front yard bench for visitors to sit on when the weather is nice and the sun is out. Or maybe have a picnic and use the engine as a table. The options are endless!
A Pillar Of Smoke
In the picture here, a fire is burning through an entire building, causing a pillar of smoke as high as the sky. It's like a war zone. That smoke looks so angry, almost like a tornado.
This smoke pillar looks so monstrous, you can almost see its face staring down at you, ready to attack. This fire took new apartments under construction with it, a Porsche dealership, and a few other businesses with it.
Cowabunga Man!
The boat's captain tried their best as it headed for a straight-on collision with a gigantic wave. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, and the boat capsized. It was a solid effort though, it couldn't have been easy.
Ships riding waves could be a new thing, a new sport. Would you watch it? Would you participate in it? If Netflix does a show about ships riding waves, we are so in.
Clean Up The Dishes
It's painful to look, we know. What happened here? Your guess is good as ours. A kitchen of a cruise ship, tipping to its side, or maybe it was an earthquake. Whatever the reason, someone needs to clean this mess.
Remember your parent asking you to do the dishes? This is what we imagine as the highest level of dish cleaning. The boss-level. You clean this up, and you have won the whole damn game.
The Wet Concert
Mother Nature is our culprit here! She came in ready to rock but came too hard and flash-flooded the entire area. The flood proved to be too much for the equipment and also the stage.
If you're wondering if the image was taken from the Fyre Festival- good guess, but it's not. All the equipment. That stage. all the money. Washed away, never to be seen again.
